I just bought a "Ruc Rac" for my Ruckus recently. It's great for hauling stuff on the Ruckus. I was thinking about getting a rack for the Big Ruckus. I was thinking about having a custom welder make a rear cargo rack. Something that could clamp on the rear side rails of the Big Ruckus.
Your thoughts and opinions ;

What I plan on doing is running aluminum tubing on the inside of those side rails, going back, and attach them with U-bolts. I like the idea of not doing anything permanent. I will use 1" round (or as big as will fit in that space), and I have some spray color-matched paint to make it blend in well. Then all you need is a platform, and I already have one: its a parking sign I got off Amazon. Just bolt it to the tubes. They are 12 x 18 inches and very strong and rigid tri-ply aluminum. I have used one before on my Yamaha Morphous and its working like a charm. Its the exact size of the Dowco tail bag I got.

Sounds like something I'd be interested in. Right now I'm using a milk crate with a bungee cord.

Can you picture what I'm talking about? Maybe you can help me. Because the platform (sign) is 18 inches wide, I need the distance between the grab-bars/side rails to be less than 18 inches. If its not I can run cross bars and still make it work. I used 1 inch square anodized aluminum tubes on my Morphous and they are very strong, even though I only have them attached to the scoot at one end with a bolt. No signs of stress. I'm picking my Big up tomorrow. 800 mile round trip. Ugn. I also could use from you a measurement of how much space there is between the grab bar and the seat. I want to get the biggest tube I can that will fit there.
Pretty quiet around here, so its just you and me buddy.

Got er done. Lotsa mistakes, but figured it out....rather easy. 1 inch square aluminum tubing...U bolts....sounds easy....I tried round but couldn't make it work. Funny thing is that that aluminum matches the paint job almost perfectly..

Your thoughts and opinions ; We just added a regular square milk crate with black rubber bungy straps with metal hooks, make sure the rubber goes around the rear grab rails and both hooks, hook the crate, no scratches to the bike, 4 straps and it rock solid. For more storage space get a large rectangular milk crate, will extend backwards giving you 1-1/2 times more cargo space.

I like my racks. I've hauled 3 cases of beer in the back and tonight brought home a 25 pound bag of dog food and it fit like a glove, Didn't even strap it down!

Neither of those Big Ruckus racks from manrack is anything like the ones on my BR. For the life of me I can't remember where I got the rear one. I even went back and looked through a couple of years of email receipts trying to find it for you and couldn't find it. I believe I got the front one on eBay and it actually came from Japan for use on their PS250s. It didn't exactly bolt right up, but with the use of some really strong wire tie straps I made it really sturdy and it looks fine. I think it was one of the last ones they had. But the two of them made it into a real two-wheeled utility vehicle. Sorry I'm not much more help! Attachments:
