Well, after a couple of hours reading over the NCDMV's website, I decided there is no such thing as a scooter in North Carolina.
I found the definition of a moped, but not a scooter or motorcycle. And since I'm crazy interested in gettin' a big Ruckus, and am likely to have a job soon, I was curious.
And since the job is a good 30 miles away, on the interstate, I would need something bigger to get me there, and my car gets shitty gas mileage... little Ryoko would still work on the trip to my other job, but I dunno... it's annoying.
Just wanted to vent a bit.

Good luck on the job thing. Scooters don't exist in many states they get thrown in w/ mopeds, Cycles or are outlawed like in NJ. I think all of the states should let them go up to 40MPH w/o a m class licence. I mean hell you should be able to do the speed limit in the city. I have also found that some states such as my own don't even keep anything straight. I was talking to a guy on the other board who lives near Detroit and he had to licence his as a cycle and mine has moped tags on it.

Adding to that, a moped cannot have the ability to exceed 30 mph. Yep, I'm breaking the law without havin' tags on her and a motorcycle endorsement... but, hell, I don't even know if they would give me tags for her. I dunno...
I totally agree on the 40 mph limit for mopeds. I mean, the damn interstate ain't a double nickle, no more. Things change, and other things should, too! #Icon011#

I've gotta get around to getting my M-endorsement one of these days too. Then I will get a big scoot. Of course I gotta keep the ruckus but I'm too lazy to ride a bike so its gotta be a scoot.

Yeah, I want a Big Ruckus, but I just don't know the laws... otherwise, I guess I'd just get a motorcycle.

The shop i go to fixes all the chp/local pd bikes.
The cops say that 250cc is the starting size for an M1 ........ they saw a little ruckus and just laughed and said "i wouldn't ride one of those on these streets", but the little ruck seems to be under the radar.
take from it what you can.
Respects,

In Texas you can take the written part of the motorcycle test and legally ride your scoot on the street, but anything over 50cc you have to take the driven... AND it has to be with a shifting motorcycle over 250ccs, so I had to learn and I'm glad I did. Now I can't get messed with. I do turn head when I drive the motorcycle but that's justn' becuz gurls ain't suppose to be ridin' those big bikes. Thems fors the mens folk.

Yea all the different states have a different definiton of a motocycle. Illinois (my state of exile) usually has the worst title and registration regs but when it comes to anything with 2 wheels 50 cc or less, the driver needs no special m class license, just plates Even of it goes 70 mph. Over 50cc needs a m class license. Then again, this guy can still drive around for all to see! Chuck
