Well here goes another one of my simpleminded, over explained, over exposed , over dosed how to's After spoon reminded me yesterday of the hideousness of the stock rear reflector bracket, I knew I had to do something. I decided that I didnt mind the reflector, just the way it mounted...too far out behind the lic plate. Here the lic plate is removed and the wire harness is loose from it's mounting tab under the seat pan. You could probably just as easily do this mod with the bracket still on the bike, but I wanted to see how it all went together for a later taillight conversion. Only one bolt holds the plastic cover ovet the bracket Next remove the three 10 mm bolt from the bracket and the tail light assembly is loose The wiring looks worse that it is. I labeled the three sets of leads just in case, but all the wires are color coded Once I had the whole peice off, I un bolted the reflector itself. 5/16 nut on the stud. Next comes the fun part..cuttting of the offending appendage. I used a hacksaw and it went right thru it. If you didn.t want to reuse the stock reflector, then you would cut it higher up near the rubber bumper for the lic plate. Here I test fit the lic plate to see where I needed to drill a new hole for the reflector bracket. The reflector has a small nub on the back that needs to be removed so that it sits flush with the bracket to be continued more too come soon Chuck

Next drill a hole for the reflector stud to go through. File or smooth out any rough edges and touch up any bare metal...yes I know it's blue. That's all I had. It's covered up any way. Next remount the bracket and lic plate Re hook all the wires and make sure they all are firmly seated in their connectors. Good connection: Bad connection: Make sure the lights work Slide plastic protective boot over harness connector and put back in place. Install the reflector and top cover and your ready to go. As a side benefit, your ride is this much lighter Chuck
