Quick Question: Did you sand off the stock paint before you started priming or did you just grind the brackets etc off and drill the holes (licence plate) and then start spraying primer and sanding that? Once I get a bit more $$$ I'm getting the racing brace, fuel cover, lowered seat etc and then I'll get it all painted perhaps a metallic smoke/charcoal. I'd love to get the kickstand too but it seems to be that if you add the racing brace and the kickstand you'll have no where to put your feet as pegs are no longer an option. I know Pome had it professionally sprayed so I'm sure it was done right. Right meaning that you ALWAYS have to sand anything metal that you want new paint to stick to. Before the primer goes on. zeus,
go to a metal fabricator , make your own design for a brake , will be way cheaper.
i made mine from scrap metal, crude and ghetto but painted and welded will cost me nothing, (found the metal, bathroom curtain pipe, left over rollbar truck paint, dad has a welder.
peace

thx for the painting info. I talked to a paint shop today and they said they'd paint mine with regular paint for 100$ cdn (80$ US) but if I wanted a nice 3-4 coat job with a clear coat and fancy paint (metallic flakes etc) it's more like 250$. Before I get that done I need to find a new rear brake light so I know what tabs to weld on and I need my lowered seat frame and racing brace.
About the brace. I generally like the look of the racing brace but I'm not a huge fan of how it doesn't really do anything because it's not attached to the front of the bike. I'd love it if the two bars that run down the length of the floor extended up a bit to the battery box and integrated somehow into the bottom. Regardless, I still like the look and I'm planning on getting one with the gas tank cover. Building my own just the way I like it is an option but I don't have access to any equipment right now so I'd need it all done by a shop which means I wouldn't save much $$$ and it would be a bigger hassle.

ya no prob zeus. 250 is a lot cheaper than mine was. i'm quite jealous. if you want a tail light like mine, i'll shoot you the info. it only requires drilling 2 holes in your seat frame. and also, you should shave your front tabs, and toss in some led blinkers. those are everywhere and pretty cheap. ya, the frame brace is cool if you do it right. when you do, fab a backbone bar like on the jap zoomers. it looks tight and actually "closes the box."

For the tail light I'm thinking of getting something that mounts under the lower rear bar as opposed to the seat frame so it'll look like abe's but nicer.
I love what you did with the rear signals, do you have the part # or manufacturer info for those? I also love your front blinkers. I've seen a lot of cool LED blinkers and I just gotta decide. Do you have the part #'s for those too? or the manufacturer?
I'd definately toss any tabs, brackets etc I'm not using. I'm gonna keep the N. American turn signal tabs though because I'd have to ditch my tinted Spoonkiller/Chanito windscreen if did that. Actually I have two front rack pieces because I shaved those brackets off when I moved the signals and then bought a new part when I got the windscreen. I may just get both painted so I can go back and forth.
When you say 'add a backbone bar' do you mean that bar that is maybe 2" diameter and goes from the battery box to the rear of the racing brace? I've seen those bars and they seem like they would work great but I don't really like the look. I might just get the BSS brace and then modify it a bit before I get it painted.
Oh, one last question. Did you have a hard time getting the battery case painted? I mean did the shop just paint it along with everything else or did they give you some extra paint and you had to do it yourself? Did you prime that too?

ya cool! that sounds like a great plan for the brake light. like i posted in detailing and style, custom lighting all the aftermarket lights/ bracket came from Iowa-80 truck stop on I-80 in very east iowa. it is literally the largest truck stop in the world. i am a professiional truck stop shopper because i am on the road ALOT. i already checked their website and have a limited amount of items listed. the actual parts room is HUGE. the rear turn sugnals are awesome. they require little fabrication. i'll post more pics of it, but the little tab that comes on the light just has to be shortened, a hole drilled in it, and then it uses the rear seat frame bolt to mount. it grounds itself so all you need is a power wire. both the front and rear led turn signals are actually pretty fuckin' bright. and the brake light... holy shit. it lights up the night. that's the main reason i recommend it to anybody. as you can see in the pics, it has a shit top of led bulbs.
the only reason i recommended the backbone frame brace is because the battlescooter one is basically just for looks. it is still kick ass though.
the battery cover is no problem. i DID prime mine, but you don't have to. i primed everything else because every piece had some kind of grinding, sanding, and smoothing to be done. there is not a problem with painting plastic. they will not have a problem with it.
