The Met forum needed another post, so I'll put it here! Do you park in the painted triangle at the end of a parking lane? In the past I've talked to a Parking Patrol person (say that 3 times fast) and she told me that she wouldn't ticket someone in that spot but that others might. Last week I saw four sport bikes and one Vino being moved onto the back of a flat-deck tow-truck and taken away! Not only that but the attendants were ratching the crap out of the centre-stands off all the bikes they towed. THE BASTARDS!!!! Now I wonder if I'll keep parking in the triangle from now on. What are the laws where you are?

Good topic, too bad it's buried here in the met threads. Here in the S.F. bay area i'm not sure of what the laws are, but, most parking lots are private property. You'll only get towed if the security (if any) or store owners call a tow company. We're lucky here, in that a lot of public parking lots have motorcycle specific parking areas. And many cities, especially San Francisco have designated motorcycle parking on the streets. One of the biggest parking garages in downtown S.F. has a special entrance for motorcycles only, and a flat rate of $4.00 for 24hrs. In the suburban town i live in, i often park on the sidewalks (as long as it doesn't impede pedestrian traffic) next to the places i frequent.
Personally i like taking up a whole parking spot with my little Ruckus, it pisses people off 'cause they think the space is open till they start to turn in. I park it as far into the space as possible just for that reason (they always start to pull in), and i don't want someone distracted by a cell phone, parking on top of my Ruckus.

I park in a parking spot (unless there is an obvious motorcycle spot). When my boyfriend drives the Ruckus he parks right next to the front door.

I park in the triangle, but if it starts to get all cluster-fucked the parkin pigs will probably shart. Sidewalks are a ticket in downtown San Jose, and I'll take up the entire spot if I can just to be a butthole. My scooter has been knocked over twice by dumb people. My girlfriend has a wicked trianlge too, I like parking there, then backing out again, then parkin it again, and so on.

Private and both. But the rear is a tow away zone.

I like parking in your girlfriend's triangle too, and backing out, and pulling in. LOL.
Why not park as close as possible to the door? I say right in front of it. Or you could just drive it into the store...

Where I work if its a designated "No Parking Area" you get subject to Corrective Action and possibly towing/impound usually to a lot some 20 mi away! ads dont park in assigned areas either! most lots have designated Motorcycle Parking areas as well, inside the fence parking is usually left to persons who have 25 or more years w/ the company, but there is some Motorcycle Parking where you dont need that! so I will ride my scoot otherwise its a good half mile to a mile walk one way to parking!

Parking triangle, sidewalks, in front of Walmart, no problem for me. Police have more pressing matters to tend to. Like getting the buy a dozen donuts and get a dozen free deals.
