Ok you all... this is about a coil you can get from some guy on ebay. it is called the Shoot Shiny coil. he frequently sells these things for fifty bucks buy it now with free shipping and they are sweet. type in HONDA DIO not honda ruckus. an item with this picture comes up.
this is NOT the coil you actually get. first ask him if he has any for the ruckus or metropolitan (both are identical). i actually bought mine without asking first. if he does then buy it. make sure to remind him to send one for a honda ruckus. when you get it, all you have to do is shorten the cable a bit with wire cutters, and switch the new plug cap with the stock one simply by unscrewing them. what i mean is, the thingy that clips over the spark plug will just unscrew off if you twist it counter clockwise. now i happen to have a spark exciter from battlescooter, but the process is the same. it's just like unscrewing a bottlecap. here is the spark exciter I have.
now once the cable is shortened (to the length of the stock cable) and the stock plug cap is screwed on the cable, you are ready to install. this is easy. it only requires bolting the coil on, reconnecting the 2 slide connectors (make sure they are on the right ones...they are the same as stock) and snaping the other end to the spark plug. this is what it looks like installed. look at my big stinkin foot at the bottom... does anyone want it up their ass??? (*hint* inimsdet) *wink wink*
now the Shoot Shiny coil is a little longer so what i did to increase clearance is placed a larger nut between the coil mounting surface and the engine mounting surface. the nut does not thread on the bolt, it only acts like a spacer. you may not need to do this, but i have the wheelbase extention kit so it helps with clearence. i guess you could use anything that would serve as a spacer. this is what it looks like. the spacer bolt is right between the coil and engine.
i hope someone else does this because it's a sweet mod. i could tell after testing it that ignition was a little hotter which meant more fuel was being burnt more efficiently. i also felt a little more pep in horsepower. if you have a problem with a rich gas mixture this might help you out a bit. you will most likely have to replace your spark plug more often, but at 3 bucks a pop, i think it's way worth it. idealy if you have the cash get the spark exciter from battlescooter which grounds the coil to increase the spark even more. besides using a split fire type of plug, this is the best way i know to get a HOT ASS spark for your air fuel mixture.
