Hello TotalRuckus, I've been debating purchasing a Ruckus for awhile now. It would act as my main commute vehicle to and from work (~2 miles). I found a posting on Craigslist and am due to view the scooter this weekend. My questions for y'all are-- Are there specific things I should look for when purchasing a Ruckus? I'm thinking to look for signs of leaks, rust, anything broken, noises when idling, is there anything else in particular? They're asking $1500 and the scooter is 2009 with ~2400 miles on it. Here are the pics accompanying the ad. Thank you in advance for any assistance with this. Hopefully I'll become a regular member here soon enough! dotdash

Ok sounds good, thank you.
- "Garage Kept" recently serviced. No accidents. Runs Great. No low balling please. No soliciting. Serious inquires only. Great Condition.
As is.
Will deliver for a fee
1500
I just noticed the 'As is.' at the end of the ad. Even though it says garage kept and in great condition. Does that seem weird to you at all? They are going to let me test drive it tomorrow in a parking lot so I guess there is not much to hide?? What is that red wire under the steering column?
Thank you again.

Update : Well, didn't get to look at it today. Got an email last minute asking to reschedule. Claimed it wouldn't start and that the fuel needs to be flushed. Said they are taking it to a mechanic.. Apparently it's been sitting for awhile, idk. Should I just pass on this?

Id try to GET it for $1000, but have other scoots to ride. If your looking for a commuter, probably best to buy a running scoot. Good luck!

Final Update : I bought the scooter. Went and looked at it and it seemed to start up just fine. I tried to talk a bit before starting it to make it as close to cold start as possible, seemed fine. It seems to idle fine. It did shut off once in the parking lot when stopped.. but I think that may be because of the battery It's pretty much dead, so getting a new one today. I was able to drive it home no problem after getting it going again, though. I bought a Krypto Fahgettaboutit chain lock, its a monster. Does anyone have one of these and have advice on where to loop the chain? Right now I have it going around my back shock. I'm having a lot of fun though. Having never had a scooter before.. riding one is so much fun! I've had a blast on every trip so far. Really looking forward to learning more and more about the Ruckus. Thanks for all the advice, it's much much appreciated! Edit : Some pics (https://imgur.com/a/9xDIg) , also I do have a scooter cover on the way. No garage for it right now though..

You can drill a hole in the plastic under cover.just in front of the tail light and use the loop around the lower frame. Just make sure the wires are not where you intend to drill.

Are you referring to the plastic footboard piece? I was thinking I may just remove that all together and get the NCY alternatives, gas over and footbars. Would that free up the back of the frame for the lock?

Keep it Stock. Don't go modding the engine or get a GY6. It will last a long time in factory stock form. My stock 2007 has over 19,000 miles and still runs great. No problems or issues.
