In today's mail I received a postcard from Tanuki, telling me where all y'all have been hanging out... !!!!
I cannot tell you how timely that postcard is -- I have been thinking of you all lately because 10 days ago I had an accident while riding Lucy. On a curve in the road there was gravel, my wheels slid out, I went down and slid across the pavement. Of course I was wearing my helmet and all of my Aerostich gear, so no head injuries, no road rash, NOT EVEN ANY BRUISES! but my right shoulder slammed into the curb and flipped me 180 degrees. I was laying on my back, looking at the registration tag on Lucy's back end. Tried to sit up... uh... nope. Turns out I broke my clavicle, my scapula, and 9 ribs. Three nights in ICU, then home. Still recuperating, but I'M ALIVE!!! and I have NO head injuries!
Everyone, WEAR YOUR PROTECTIVE GEAR. ALL THE TIME. There is no "oh, it's just down to the corner store, I don't need a helmet."
